San Salvador, El Salvador’s resilient heart. The capital bears deeps scares, many of them still visible, some of them deeply burned into memories of its inhabitants. Its heartache was omnipresent, yet the city’s fierce determination for a better future, its hopes and aspirations are infectious and the reason why San Salvador is our favorite capital in Central America.
El Salvador’s Ruta de las Flores is a real gem. The 40 km winding road is seamed by the picturesque villages with excellent food markets. Hike and discover coffee plantations, waterfalls, and the surrounding lush vegetation! Nearby volcanos and lakes promise lots of things to do outdoors!
Volcano Santa Ana’s incredibly impressive crater marks the highlight for many travelers coming to El Salvador for a good reason. The town itself is charming, and it’s nearby volcanos are stunning! After a 3 hours hike up we were rewarded with a spectacular view over the turquoise crater lake and opposite Lago Coatepeque.
